LogPlot 7

A versatile borehole (drillhole) log plotting application in use in industry since 1983.

Program Features

Lithologic Patterns

Lithology pattern information is stored in special files containing patterns and associated keywords. The program recognizes keywords in descriptive text, identifies corresponding patterns and plots to the lithology column at the specified interval. Pattern and keyword files are fully editable to fit specific requirements.

Data Entry

A free-form, text editor is utilized for storing data to be plotted on the log. Using one of the log template files created in the LogDesigner program, LogPlot's text editor will create an outline showing the different blocks of data to be plotted. The user then enters or imports appropriate data for each log column (i.e. lithologic intervals, curve data, cored intervals, etc.). The data entry window features true Windows text-editing capabilities such as cut, copy, paste, auto-scrolling and copying between applications.

Log Plotting

One simple command keystroke or menu selection initiates the plotting process. LogPlot will read the information from the data window and plot the graphics according to the positions in the log template form. If the program finds an error in the file, the user is returned to the data window with the line containing the error highlighted. This feature makes it very easy to correct errors and move ahead. Logs can be plotted at any scale on the screen. Scroll bars permit you to see portions of the log page not in view, and you can advance directly to a particular page.

Output

Logs may be printed at full printer resolution at any scale. If the plot is longer than one page it can be paneled over several pages or plotted without breaks on tractor feed paper. The total length of a log can range up to 37 feet. Logs can also be saved in WMF graphics format for import into other applications.

Log Formats

Formats need to be flexible. Parameters are always changing. LogPlot makes it easy to create new formats or modify any existing template. An intuitive interface within the LogDesigner program is utilized for manipulating the elements of a log plot. Each object can be dragged to set its location or double-clicked to set specific attributes such as font, size and color.

Log entities include lithologic patterns and descriptions, scale bars, curves, histograms, fill bars, text, symbols, and lithologic percentages. A separate header portion of the log can also be designed for displaying titles, editable text, legends, descriptions and WMF images such as logos.

Each log design can contain 2 separate headers: one for the 1st page of a log, and subsequent pages. Over a dozen log formats are included for mining, petroleum, hydrology, soils and general purpose lithology logs.
